Brooks Smith, a veteran environmental and natural resources attorney, has been elected as a 2022 Fellow of the American College of Environmental Lawyers (ACOEL). He was chosen – along with 25 others – for his “distinguished experience, high standards of practice, and substantial contributions to the field of environmental law.”
The ACOEL is a professional association of distinguished lawyers who practice in the field of environmental law. Membership is by invitation and members are recognized by their peers as preeminent in their field. The association is dedicated to maintaining and improving the ethical practice of environmental law, the administration of justice, and the development of environmental law at both the state and federal level.
Smith manages the firm’s Richmond office and is involved in cutting-edge environmental and natural resources proceedings in Virginia and around the country, including litigation, enforcement defense, project development and compliance counseling. For more than 20 years, he has helped clients develop and implement compliance assurance programs designed to prevent, detect and deter violations of environmental, health and safety laws.
