Virginia Lawyers Weekly honored McGuireWoods partner Christopher Michalik as one of its 2022 “Go To Lawyers in Employment Law.” Honorees — selected for their track record of client successes and command of case law, statutes and regulations clients encounter — were profiled in a special section published June 27, 2022.
Based in Richmond, Michalik has a national practice that touches all aspects of labor and employment law, including traditional labor representation, wage and hour class and collective actions, and trade secrets and restrictive covenant litigation. Over the past two years, he defended putative class or collective actions in Texas and Florida and represented clients in large investigations by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division in Pennsylvania, Florida and California.
Michalik also advises employers in union organizing proceedings; collective bargaining and other interactions with unions; arbitrations; and union-related litigation before federal courts and the National Labor Relations Board. Among his many honors, Michalik has been selected for inclusion on Virginia Business magazine’s Legal Elite list for labor and employment law six times, most recently in 2021. He is a member of Law360’s Employment Authority Labor Editorial Advisory Board.
“I am honored to be included in this class of respected employment lawyers from across Virginia and I am grateful to my McGuireWoods colleagues and our clients for their unwavering support,” Michalik said.
McGuireWoods’ labor and employment lawyers advise local, national and multinational employers — including small businesses, government entities and Fortune 500 companies — on compliance with state, federal and international law; internal investigations; federal contracting; and executive compensation. The firm earned national Tier 1 rankings for labor and employment litigation and employment law in the 2022 edition of U.S. News-Best Lawyers’ “Best Law Firms.”
“This recognition affirms what our clients already know — that Chris is an exceptional lawyer and trusted adviser in all areas of labor and employment law,” said Sabrina A. Beldner, chair of McGuireWoods’ Labor & Employment Department. “We congratulate him on this well-deserved recognition.”
