Ballard Spahr's Mark Kokanovich Honored by Barrett, The Honors College at ASU

Ballard Spahr White Collar Defense/Internal Investigations Of Counsel Mark S. Kokanovich has received the Barrett Service Award, part of the Distinguished Alumni Awards at Barrett, The Honors College at Arizona State University.

The Distinguished Alumni Awards recognize professional achievements, contributions to society, and support of the university. Mr. Kokanovich was honored for founding the college’s Inn of Court, a twice-yearly event connecting honors pre-law students with legal professionals, and for mentoring Barrett students. He also has taught at the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law as an adjunct professor and has served in a range of roles in which he contributed to the community, including as special counsel to the Arizona House of Representatives Ethics Committee in its investigations of Rep. David Cook and former Rep. David Stringer.

Mr. Kokanovich is a former federal prosecutor who represents business clients and individuals in regulatory matters, internal investigations, and litigation in civil and criminal cases. As an Assistant U.S. Attorney in Arizona for more than seven years, he investigated and prosecuted financial crimes, including securities fraud, government contracts, aggravated identity theft, bank fraud, bankruptcy fraud, mail fraud, wire fraud, and international money laundering. His experience also includes nearly a decade in private practice, where he conducts internal investigations and litigation in a variety of areas, including class action and securities litigation. Mr. Kokanovich is frequently called upon to speak on matters related to internal and government investigations.
