NEW YORK (Legal Newsline) - A New York woman blames a juice bar for making her sick instead of protecting her from COVID-19.

Elena Lomakina sued Juice Generation on March 9 in New York County Supreme Court. She says she turned to Juice Generation in March 2020 when the COVID-19 pandemic started "in an effort to maintain and boost her immune system."

But on March 8, 2020, she says the Cold Warrior juice she purchased tasted strange. Her friends agreed, the suit says.

"Despite the strange taste as opposed to normal, Plaintiff just rationalized that this drink probably had an imbalance of ingredients than normal," the suit says. "She finished the beverage."

Nausea, heartburn and arrhythmia followed, she says. On March 11, she was forced to leave school and see a doctor, who prescribed over-the-counter medication that did not help, the suit says.

A gastroenterologist diagnosed her with three spots of erosive gastritis - two in her esophagus and one in her stomach, the suit says. She continues to have heartburn and stomach pains.

The suit says the juice was not fit for human consumption. Salman Ismat of Gambourg & Read is Lomakina's lawyer.
