Shook with the firm’s Black Employee Resource Group congratulate Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson on her nomination to serve as the 116th Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court. Throughout a stellar legal career of varied and challenging roles, Judge Jackson has distinguished herself as a brilliant legal thinker and defender of the Constitution. We are also encouraged to see President Biden make this historic nomination of the first Black woman to serve on the highest court of the land. During these difficult times, this announcement is a much needed beacon of hope.
As the President noted, this nomination “reflects the full talents and greatness of our nation.” We hope it will pave the way for others to continue to shatter what previously appeared to be impenetrable glass ceilings.
