BOSTON (Legal Newsline) - A recently filed lawsuit says a Boston University Academy teacher was hit by a school bus and dragged underneath it.

The Estate of Jennifer Lynn Formichelli filed suit Feb. 14 in Suffolk County Superior Court against NRT Bus, SP&R Transportation of N.H. and bus driver Guillaume Osirus. The suit calls Formichelli "a woman of enormous accomplishments" but says her life was cut short on Oct. 26 while walking her dogs.

The accident occurred on Walk Hill Street in Mattapan.

"As Ms. Formichelli was crossing the marked crosswalk, a full-size school bus was making a right turn off of Blue Hill Avenue onto Walk Hill Street, and failed to stop for her," the lawsuit says.

"Even after striking Ms. Formichelli, the bus still failed to stop, resulting in her body being dragged underneath it down Walk Hill Street, and killing her. The bus left the scene but was later identified by officials."

The suit blames the corporate defendants for retaining Osirus as a bus driver despite a history of more than 20 violations and accidents. The plaintiff's attorneys are Leo Boyle, Peter Ainsworth and Jennifer Denker of Meehan, Boyle, Black & Bogdanow.
