Troutman Pepper Hamilton Sanders LLP issued the following announcement on Feb. 17.

Richard Gerakitis, a partner in Troutman Pepper’s Labor and Employment Practice Group, will be honored as part of the 22nd Annual Justice Robert Benham Awards for Community Service. Gerakitis will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award, the highest recognition given by the Chief Justice’s Commission on Professionalism, for demonstrating an extraordinarily long and distinguished commitment to volunteer participation in the community throughout his legal career.

The Justice Robert Benham Awards are sponsored by the Chief Justice’s Commission on Professionalism. Established in 1998, the awards honor lawyers and judges in Georgia who have made significant contributions to their communities and who demonstrate the positive contributions of members of the Bar beyond their professional work. All honorees are members of the State Bar of Georgia.

“Richard is a leader within the firm and well-known in the local Atlanta community as well as across the state,” said Chuck Palmer, Troutman Pepper’s Atlanta office managing partner. “His commitment to serving others throughout his career makes him a deserving recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award, and we are proud for him to be representing Troutman Pepper at this year’s Justice Robert Benham Awards.”

With more than 40 years of experience in litigation, mediation and arbitration, Gerakitis handles all types of employment matters, representing management in both union and nonunion settings. He is consistently sought out to handle urgent commercial matters and workplace disputes throughout the country that require coordinated strategies for protecting business concerns while safeguarding enterprise interests and public relations. In addition to his professional practice, Gerakitis currently serves on the Board of Directors, the Executive Committee, HR, Culture and Diversity Committee, and the Compensation Committee for the Metropolitan Atlanta YMCA and been a Rotarian for 38 years.

Gerakitis will be recognized at an awards ceremony at the Loudermilk Conference Center on March 19, 2022.
