NEW YORK (Legal Newsline) - A class action lawsuit against Sanofi Consumer Healthcare and Chattem say they market Dulcolax laxative products as natural even though they aren't.
Attorneys at Reese LLP and Sultzer Law Group filed the case Jan. 21 in New York federal court, claiming the defendants are taking advantage of consumers' desire for natural products.
The Dulcolax products contain citric acid, as well as food dyes and glycerin, the suit says.
"Consumers lack the meaningful ability to test or independently ascertain or verify whether a product is natural, especially at the point of sale," the suit says.
"Consumers would not know the true nature of the ingredients merely by reading the ingredients label."
Reasonable consumers are not expected to "scour" the ingredients list on the products, the suit claims.
