NEW YORK (Legal Newsline) - Owners of a New York City property face a wrongful death lawsuit over electricity allegedly too close to a sink.

Cynthia Griffin had already sued 1199 Housing Corporation, 142 East 71 Owners and Marion Scott Real Estate in New York County Supreme Court, but a Jan. 4 lawsuit says she died in 2020 and is brought by her estate.

The other case, filed in 2016, is still pending. It says there was a "live electrical cord place abutting, in and/or upon a sink" with no warning. It blames the defendants for hiring electricians who would place the cord place there.

Griffin suffered "an extremely severe electrical shock" in 2015, the suits say. Though she lived another five years, the new suit says her death was the result of her injuries.

Joan Tancer of Segan, Nemerov, Singer, Sonin & Tancer is representing the plaintiff.
