CVN Recognizes Shook for Trial Skills in List of Most Impressive Defense Verdicts

General court 06

Shook, Hardy & Bacon L.L.P. issued the following announcement on Dec. 20.

Courtroom View Network (CVN) chose a defense verdict obtained by Shook among its list of “Top 10 Most Impressive Defense Verdicts of 2021.” Monroe v. Johnson and Johnson was selected as the first Georgia defense verdict in a cosmetic talc trial. In less than four hours, a Georgia jury returned a defense verdict for Johnson & Johnson in a highly watched trial carried live by CVN and reported in The American Lawyer.

For three weeks the Shook trial team, led by Ken Reilly, relied on science to reiterate to the jury that talcum powder does not cause cancer. In all, the jury found in favor of the defendants on all five counts asserted, counts including negligent design and failure to warn.
