Fox Rothschild LLP issued the following announcement on Nov. 11.

Fox Rothschild LLP congratulates Daniel Benge, who was selected to the prestigious list of Hollywood’s New Leaders by Variety.

This annual feature highlights emerging leaders under the age of 40 in the entertainment industry who continue to meet the challenges of an evolving marketplace impacted by the assertion of streaming platforms, the recalibration of the theatrical experience and economic uncertainty.

A member of Fox Rothschild’s nationwide Entertainment & Sports Law Department, Benge has immersed himself in New York City’s film, theater and television scenes while representing a growing roster of trailblazing production companies, producers and filmmakers.

As the challenges of 2020 amplified, Benge played pivotal roles in cementing landmark deals and championing projects featuring artists of color and members of the LGBTQI community. Serving as outside general counsel, he worked with Culture House Media, a New York production company wholly owned by women of color, to become a powerful voice in the industry – cultivating content at the intersection of race, gender, inequality and justice, and brokering seven-figure deals with Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, Disney+, Freeform and OWN.

Harnessing his deep knowledge of how entertainment, business and culture intersect, Benge’s notable representations include shepherding a deal with Harpo, Oprah Winfrey, Tracee Ellis Ross, Michaela Angela Davis and Hulu/OWN to develop “Hair Tales,” a docuseries that will explore the history of Black hair and how it is tied to identity, beauty and culture; acting as production and distribution counsel for “Barbershop Medicine,” a partnership with YouTube, MACRO and Culture House that addresses the impact of race on healthcare in the United States; and Atlas Films on the Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez documentary “Knock Down the House.”

He earned his LL.B. from Monash University Law School and B.A. from Monash University.
