Lawsuit: Trolley struck woman as she prepared to board

BOSTON (Legal Newsline) -- A couple are suing after the wife was allegedly hit and injured by trolley in Massachusetts.

Laura and Steven Johnson filed a complaint on September 8 in Suffolk County Superior Court against Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority for negligence and loss of consortium.

According to the complaint, on Jan. 20, 2020, Laura Johnson was attempting to be a passenger on the Green Line at the Newton Centre Station when a trolley struck her. Johnson alleges it is the neglect of the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority as the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority is responsible for the operation of the trollies safely so as to avoid injury to pedestrians, customers, and others.

It is also MBTA's responsibility to thoroughly and properly retain and train operators to operate the vehicles safely and in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations, the suit says.

The Johnsons are represented by Patrick T. Jones of Jones Kelleher LLP.
