Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, P.C. issued the following announcement on Oct. 14.

Ogletree Deakins, one of the largest labor and employment law firms representing management, exemplifies its Client Pledge in announcing Dr. Ulrike Conradi, managing partner of the firm’s Berlin office, Ignacio (Iggy) Garcia, shareholder in Tampa, and James Pennington, shareholder in Birmingham, are named winners of the 2021 Lexology Client Choice Award.

Established in 2005, Client Choice recognizes those law firms and shareholders around the world that stand apart for the excellent client care they provide and the quality of their service. The criteria for this recognition focuses on an ability to add real value to clients’ business above and beyond the other players in the market. Uniquely, lawyers can be nominated only by corporate counsel, with this year’s winners chosen from a pool of more than 2,000 individual client assessments. In 2021, Client Choice recognizes 593 winners across 73 jurisdictions worldwide. To view all 2021 winners, visit www.ClientChoice.com.

Lexology’s research begins with a readership survey of its in-house counsel subscribers, and additional feedback is gathered at several international in-house counsel events. In-house counsel are asked to rate individuals on the following client service criteria: quality of advice, commercial awareness, industry knowledge, strategic thinking, billing transparency, tailored fee structures, value for money, responsiveness, effective communication, clarity of documentation, sharing of expertise, appropriate staffing, project management, use of technology, loyalty, and ethics. The results of this survey are used to produce shortlists by country and work area, and the candidates on these lists are then invited to submit up to five client referees. Lexology’s research team conducts follow-up interviews and additional research where necessary.

Dr. Ulrike Conradi was awarded in the Employment and Benefits category for Germany. She advises companies and the public sector on all employment related matters, especially those relating to redundancies, restructurings, merger and acquisitions and privatizations.

Iggy Garcia was named in the Labor and Employment category for United States: Florida. Iggy focuses his practice exclusively on representing employers with their labor and employment needs. He has extensive experience in both federal and state courts representing employers.

James Pennington was recognized in the Labor and Employment category for United States: Alabama. James has more than two decades of experience representing employers in a wide range of labor and employment law matters, including administrative agency charges, federal and state court litigation, union campaigns and collective bargaining.
