Troutman Pepper Hamilton Sanders LLP issued the following announcement on Sept. 24.
Troutman Pepper has been recognized as the Financial Technology (FinTech) Law Firm of the Year (Middle Market) by The Deal in the publication’s annual awards celebrating the leaders in the deal economy. The awards recognize the advisers, professionals, banks, and firms driving the market forward. Troutman Pepper is the first firm to receive the FinTech Law Firm of the Year (Middle Market) award.
“It is an honor to receive this award in its inaugural year,” said Partner James Stevens, who leads the firm’s financial services team. “Troutman Pepper has a deep bench of fintech-focused attorneys who not only understand the legal hurdles companies face in the highly regulated space, but who also understand the technologies at play.”
The Deal’s research team independently selected Troutman Pepper to receive the award – most firms complete nominations. Researchers pointed to the firm’s representation of Repay Holdings Corporation, a leading provider of vertically-integrated payment solutions, in its 2020 acquisition of CPS Payment Services and, more recently, Repay’s acquisition of BillingTree.
“Our recognition is really a reflection on the incredible work our fintech clients are advancing every day,” said Partner David Ghegan, who heads up a team working with Repay. “We are grateful for clients like Repay that allow us to be on the leading-edge of the payments advisory space.”
Troutman Pepper has more than 200 attorneys who regularly advise financial services providers, including banks, neobanks, payment processors, card issuers, and consumer and commercial marketplace lenders. Troutman Pepper handles their full spectrum of legal needs and has been nationally recognized for its work in the financial services industry, including by Chambers and Partners, U.S. News – Best Lawyers® and Law360, among others.
Troutman Pepper was recognized at The Deal’s awards ceremony on September 23.
