Lawsuit says man was forced to work in 107-degree temps on paving job, died from hyperthermia

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (Legal Newsline) -- A lawsuit has been filed against a man's employer after he overheated and died during work.

Connie Stafford, individually and as special administrator for the estate of Michael Stafford, deceased, filed a complaint on August 30 in the Circuit Court of Pulaski County against AF&G LLC and Does 1-3 for wrongful death. 

According to the complaint, on July 19, 2019, Michael Stafford was killed from exposure to environmental hyperthermia while working to complete a pavement job. The complaint alleges that temperatures outside during the job reached 101 degrees on the pavement and 107 degrees in the work area. Michael was last seen walking away from the job site around 1:35 p.m. and his body was found around 7 p.m. that evening.
