Lawyer sues Little Rock for not letting him bring gun into City Hall

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (Legal Newsline) -- A lawyer is suing the City of Little Rock for not upholding his right to conceal and carry a licensed firearm.

Chris P. Corbitt has filed a complaint on August 9 in Pulaski County Circuit Court against the city, Mayor Frank Scott and City Manager Bruce Moore for relief under the uniform declaratory judgments act, liability under the Arkansas civil rights act, injunctive relief and violation of the Arkansas Constitution Art. 2. 5.

According to the complaint, on August 8, 2021, Corbitt tried to enter Little Rock City Hall. The guard who works for Quality Security at City Hall stated that Plaintiff is not permitted to enter City Hall even with his Enhanced Concealed-Carry License, the suit says.

The guard allegedly stated, “I will never let nobody come in with a weapon.” According to Corbitt, the city violated his rights as provided for in Act 1024 and the city's actions were driven by a leftist political agenda rather than an intent to comply with the law.

Corbitt seeks a declaratory judgment, injunctive damages, attorney's fees and cost of suit. Corbitt is represented by Robert Steinbuch and himself.
