BOSTON (Legal Newsline) -- A mother who sued a Massachusetts zoo after her daughter was bitten by a wolf is asking for court approval of a $30,000 settlement.
Kerri Thomas, as the mother of Isla Thomas, filed a petition on July 12 in the Suffolk Superior Court regarding her claim against Zoo New England d/b/a Stone Zoo f/k/a Commonwealth Zoological Organization, John Linehan, Robert Chabot, Eric Baitchman, Michelle Martinat, David C. Porter and Dr. Hayley Murphy for negligence and personal injury,
According to the petition, on December 21, 2020, Thomas and her daughter were visiting the zoo and observing the Mexican Gray Wolf exhibit. Unknown to Thomas, the fence between the exhibit was not secure, the suit says. A wolf put its snout through the fence and bit Thomas' daughter.
The petition claims the bite resulted in more than $1,400 in medical bills but no permanent damage.
Thomas is represented by Neil Burns of Burns and Jain. The firm would received $12,000 of the settlement if it is approved by a judge.
