LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (Legal Newsline) -- A woman is suing the City of North Little rock, claiming it is responsible for the wrongful death of her son after a vehicle accident.
Dianne Denise Thompson, special administratrix of the estate of Jared Lamar Thompson, deceased, and on behalf of the wrongful death beneficiaries of Jared Lamar Thompson, filed a complaint on July 7 in the Circuit Court of Pulaski County against the City of North Little Rock and Gene Benson for negligence and wrongful death.
According to the complaint, Jared Lamar Thompson was an employee of the City of North Little Rock (CNLR) Sanitation Department and was removing leaves from the side of city roadways on November 28, 2020.
Gene Benson was operating the CNLR owned box truck with an attached leaf vacuum truck loader. The truck allegedly ran over Thompson.
Benson exited the vehicle and saw that Thompson was bleeding from the head and called on his work radio for help. The North Little Rock Fire Department came on scene and Thompson was transported by Metropolitan Emergency Medical Services to Arkansas Children's Hospital Emergency Department, where he was later pronounced dead.
Dianna Denise Thompson seeks compensatory and punitive damages. Thompson is represented by David S. Hodges.
