BOONEVILLE, Ark. (Legal Newsline) -- An Arkansas woman has filed a wrongful death lawsuit after her husband was electrocuted while at work.
Savana Martinez, special administrator of the estate of Antonio Martinez, deceased, filed a complaint on June 21 in the Circuit Court of Logan County against Preformed Line Products Company, Techline, Inc., and Does 1-10 for wrongful death.
According to the complaint, on Jan. 15, 2020, Martinez was assisting others working for Arkansas Electric Cooperative Corporation, which had contracted with Arkansas Valley Electric Cooperative Corporation.
On the day in question, Martinez was helping with an installation of a new electric pole. Wires used during the service were purchased from Techline, Inc. The wires were incorrectly insulated, which allowed them to become electrified while on the ground as guide wires, the suit claims. Martinez was electrocuted and later died at the hospital due to his injuries.
Savana Martinez seeks compensatory damages for injuries, wrongful death, survival and loss of life. Martinez is represented by Tony L. Wilcox of Wilcox and Averitt, PLC.
