Fox Rothschild LLP issued the following announcement on June 23.
For the second consecutive year, Fox Rothschild LLP is proud to partner with Lunar Startups, a nonprofit organization that supports growth, connection and innovation for entrepreneurs who identify as Black, Indigenous, People of Color, LGBTQ, women and nonbinary.
“After the success of the 2020 cohort, we are excited to continue our collaboration with the Lunar Startups Accelerator Program and the founders they support in Minnesota,” says JT Schuweiler, a member of the firm’s emerging companies practice group, who is leading the initiative again this year. “The firm will offer legal services pro bono to the next roster of high-potential startups to help navigate a market that often lacks equal access to resources for diverse leaders to scale their business.”
Fox attorneys will offer a monthly commitment of 4 hours of pro bono corporate legal services to 15 startup founders in Lunar’s accelerator program, which aims to connect area startups with customers and capital to hasten their achievement of key business milestones. More than 67 percent of these startups are led by a woman, 77 percent are led by a person of color, 35 percent are led by a woman of color and 7 percent are led by a person who identifies as LGBTQ+.
“For founders who don’t have early access to legal counsel,” added Danielle Steer, founding Executive Director of Lunar, “this partnership has been critical in developing a strong legal foundation from which to build and scale. Our partnership has been such a huge value add to the founder community.”
