FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (Legal Newsline) — A woman is claiming her grandmother suffered wrongful death at an Arkansas assisted living facility.

Sheridon Glenn, grandchild and executor of estate for Margie F. Combs, filed a complaint on June 3 in the Washington County Circuit Court against WCNC, Inc., d/b/a/ Katherine’s Place at Wedington for medical negligence resulting in wrongful death.

According to the complaint, Combs was in the care of Katherine's Place at Wedington from March 1, 2019, until her death on July 3, 2020. Glenn alleged that on June 12, 2020, Combs fell and suffered a broken hip, closed head injury, and facial laceration.

The suit says she was then transferred to Washington Reginal Medical Center and underwent hip surgery on June 14, 2020. On June 19, 2020, Combs was returned to Katherine's Place at Wedington.

On June 21, 2020, Combs was transferred back to Washington Reginal Medical Center for possible stroke and to June 25, 2020, Combs showed only limited signs of improvement, including standing with assistance, and never regained the ability to speak. On June 26, 2020, Combs allegedly fell out of her bed in the isolation ward and remained on the floor for an unknown amount of time.

Combes was placed on hospice care on June 27, 2020, until her death.

Glenn seeks compensation for pecuniary loss, including loss of the money, goods, and services, funeral costs, punitive damages, costs and attorney's fees. Glenn is represented by John M. Tyner of Langdon and Emison LLC.
