NEW YORK (Legal Newsline) - A body piercing business in New York City faces a lawsuit after allegedly harming an infant while piercing it.

Damaris Sackey filed his lawsuit April 27 in New York County Supreme Court against Aria Body Piercing and the John Doe who allegedly pierced his child without parental consent.

The alleged incident occurred in late 2020. Sackey brought his child to Aria for piercing but says the child was caused to "suffer severe and serious personal injuries to mind and body."

"(T)he defendants performed piercing procedures on the infant plaintiff that required parental consent and the defendants failed to obtain proper parental consent for the procedures performed," the lawsuit says.

"(T)he defendants violated proper sanitary procedures and protocols, including but not limited to failure to use single-use needles."

The infant suffered severe mental and nervous shock and has required medical treatment, which will continue to be needed in the future, the suit says.

The defendants have since filed an answer that denies the allegations.
