Euromoney Legal Media Group, a UK-based publisher of legal directories, has shortlisted Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP in several categories for its 2021 Women in Business Law Awards.
These awards celebrate groundbreaking achievements by the region’s leading female lawyers and the most progressive firms in terms of their gender policies, advocacy, and support of women in law.
In the North America category, Nelson Mullins is recognized for its pro bono work and programs focusing on women and diversity.
In addition, three partners are finalists for Lawyers of the Year. Erika C. Birg is a finalist in Commercial Arbitration; Michelle W. Johnson is a finalist in Employment, and Jo O. Thacker is a finalist in Real Estate.
All firm and individual winners will be announced on June 10, 2021.
Birg is sought after to represent companies in resolving business-to-business disputes in arbitration and in court. She is both an arbitrator on the American Arbitration Association’s Large & Complex Panel and an advocate in arbitrations involving business torts, contract disputes, trade secret misappropriation, computer fraud, and non-compete matters.
Johnson represents employers in connection with hiring, training, discipline, terminations, wage payment practices, mergers and acquisitions, and strategies for the prevention of employee lawsuits. Her practice includes employment litigation in courts and government agencies throughout the United States.
Thacker represents the interests of property owners in front of local governments throughout Central Florida, including Osceola and Orange counties. She focuses her practice on real estate transactions, land-use and zoning issues, intergovernmental coordination and planning, and public finance.
