Lawsuit alleges negligence in post-op fall after gastric bypass

State Court
Surgery

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (Legal Newsline) - A Blytheville, Ark., couple accused the Little Rock Baptist Health Medical Center of medical negligence in the Pulaski County Circuit Court.

According to the complaint filed on March 15, plaintiffs Bobbie Johnson underwent a gastric bypass reversal surgery at the defendant's facility on March 4, 2019. Two days after her procedure while still in recovery, Johnson says that hospital staff instructed her to get out of bed and squat on the floor over a bed pan to urinate when she informed them that she needed to use a restroom.

Johnson allegedly fell while trying to do this and as a result of her fall developed a leak in her recently-operated-on stomach that required an additional surgery to fix, as well as a knee injury.

The Reid, Burge, Prevallet and Coleman law office represent Johnson and her husband in their effort to recover damages.
