NEW YORK (Legal Newsline) – A New York City man says he was scalded by a Residence Inn hot tub in Long Island.
Lester Garfinkel filed a lawsuit March 4 in New York County Supreme Court against Residence Inn By Marriott and Marriott International over burns he says he sustained in August 2020 during an afternoon soak.
Garfinkel said he used the hot tub for 10-15 minutes when he began to feel ill and his skin began to burn.
“Plaintiff removed himself from the hot tub and went to his room to shower,” the lawsuit says. “His skin was burning and the hair on his body began to fall off. Plaintiff also experienced trouble breathing.”
Marriott was grossly negligent in its maintenance of the hot tub, the suit says without specifying what exactly was wrong with it. Garfinkel is seeking damages for his physical and emotional injuries. He is represented by Garden City lawyer Robert Sullivan.
