WORCESTER, Mass. (Legal Newsline) – An intercollegiate horse show has led to a lawsuit against a Massachusetts boarding school.
Stoneleigh-Burnham School of Greenfield is the defendant in Kate Conlon’s lawsuit, filed Feb. 17 in Worcester County Superior Court by lawyer Kevin Larson. Conlon claims on Feb. 24, 2018, she was given a skittish horse named Flash who eventually bucked her off.
Horses were provided by the school, which should have known Flash was overworked, the suit says. Flash needed a red ribbon to signal he was skittish, the suit says.
“Flash was cantering in the Defendant’s indoor ring while being ridden by the Plaintiff when another horse came up behind him, causing Flash to buck,” the lawsuit says.
“The Plaintiff was thrown from the horse causing her to be injured.”
Conlon says she suffered severe injuries and great pain “of body and mind.”
