SANTA ANA, Calif. (Legal Newsline) – Amazon is selling counterfeit supplements, a new class action lawsuit says.

The lawsuit, filed March 12 in California federal court, focuses on the sale of glucosamine sulfate supplements that allegedly contain no glucosamine sulfate. The supplements are marketed to help with symptoms of joint pain, osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.

“Defendant failed to disclose on its labels or otherwise that the affected products do not contain the ingredients represented on the affected products’ labels or that the affected products contain adulterants or undisclosed substances,” the lawsuit says.

“The actual contents of the affected products are important to Plaintiff and members of the class and subclass.”

Class members wouldn’t have purchased the supplements if they knew their real ingredients, the lawsuit says, calling Amazon’s behavior misleading, unethical and unfair.

Los Angeles lawyer Casey Flynn Jr. filed the lawsuit.
