Man watches hockey game, then sues MSG after slipping on stairs

NEW YORK (Legal Newslines) – Wet stairs are at the center of a new lawsuit against Madison Square Garden and the New York Rangers.

Craig Waterman’s Feb. 25 lawsuit against the two complains that he fell when exiting a Rangers-Washington Capitals game on March 5, 2020. He says he was forced to exit through a staircase that had dangerous liquid on it.

“Plaintiff slipped and fell as a direct and proximate result of the dangerous conditions, the crowded staircase where people were allowed to carry open, liquid beverages and/or food that would spill causing a slip hazard that Defendants… failed to remedy…” the complaint says.

The spill was on the steps for so long that MSG and the Rangers should have had constructive knowledge of the hazard, the lawsuit says. Waterman doesn’t specify his injuries, only claiming he became “disabled, sore, sick, lame and disabled.”

Imran Ansari of Aidala, Bertuna & Kamins in New York City is Waterman’s lawyer.
