Ballard Spahr LLP issued the following announcement on Mar. 1.
Robert Borhart—an experienced financial services attorney known for his work on corporate trust matters—has joined Ballard Spahr as Of Counsel in its Minneapolis office, firm Chair Mark Stewart announced.
Mr. Borhart is a member of Ballard Spahr’s Finance Department.
“The national finance department of Ballard Spahr represents clients across public and private markets and throughout a wide range of intricate debt and equity transactions,” said Finance Department Co-Chair Dominic J. De Simone. “Bob’s addition to our 110-attorney force will help us broaden the array of skills we already provide and deepen the relationships we have with clients.”
Mr. Borhart’s experience includes matters involving corporate trust entities and he has worked with a wide variety of corporate trust products, including residential mortgage-backed securities, commercial mortgage-backed securities, asset-backed products, municipal bonds, and corporate bonds. His work comprises new transaction reviews, workouts, litigation, and representation during government inquiries. Mr. Borhart also managed cross-functional team initiatives that included regulatory, risk and control, and compliance functions. Prior to joining Ballard Spahr, Mr. Borhart spent almost a decade at Wells Fargo. He also worked in private practice and as legal counsel for the Office of the Governor of Minnesota.
