POLSINELLI PC: Polsinelli Recognized for Two Global M&A Network Awards

Award

Polsinelli PC issued the following announcement on Jan. 21.

Am Law 100 firm Polsinelli has been honored with two awards by Global M&A Network: “Cross-Border M&A Deal of the Year” and “Chapter 11 Restructuring of the Year.” Both awards are in the mid-markets category. The firm was recognized at the 12th Annual Intelligence Forum virtual event on Jan. 21, 2021.

Polsinelli’s recognition as the “Cross-Border M&A Deal of the Year” (mid-markets category) was awarded for its representation of Orchids Paper Products Company, including Fabrica de Papel, a U.S. publicly traded paper company, in the sale of substantially all of the company’s assets under Bankruptcy Code Section 363 to Cascades, a Canadian-based, publicly-traded company focused on offering sustainable, innovative and value-added solutions for packaging, hygiene and recovery needs.. Polsinelli served as lead counsel to Orchids Paper in the transaction, which paved the way for a consensual Chapter 11 plan.

The firm’s “Chapter 11 Restructuring of the Year” (mid-markets category) honor was awarded for its representation of Senior Care Centers in its Chapter 11 restructuring and refinancing. Polsinelli served as lead counsel to Senior Care Centers, a Dallas-based operator of skilled nursing and independent/assisted living communities. Polsinelli was successful in restructuring approximately $900,000,000 worth of debt through a Chapter 11 plan that allowed Senior Care Centers to emerge from Chapter 11 a more viable company.

“It is a great honor to earn these awards from Global M&A Network, a recognized leader in our industry,” said Chris Ward, Polsinelli’s Bankruptcy and Restructuring Practice Chair.  “I am proud of our hardworking team’s commitment to providing outstanding client service, which results in excellent awards like these. Our nationally recognized distressed health care practice worked with virtually every department in the firm to accomplish this successful restructuring.”

Global M&A Network’s Cross Border Turnaround of the Year award winners include the best value-creating, multi-jurisdiction restructuring transactions, which may be in or out of court, financial or operational. The restructured company must survive in part or per core operations post-restructuring, or as acquired assets. The “Chapter 11 Restructuring of the Year” winners include the best value-creating, Chapter 11 Plan of Reorganization. Transaction size is based on capital structure pre-restructuring.

Polsinelli received the “Cross Border Turnaround of the Year” award (small-mid-markets category) at last year’s Turnaround Atlas Awards for its representation of PhaseRX, Inc. in its Chapter 11 bankruptcy and acquisition by Roivant Sciences.

Polsinelli’s Bankruptcy and Restructuring Practice has a national footprint and top-ranked corporate restructuring practice and health care group, with a mid-market rate structure. The firm has represented numerous Chapter 11 debtors, official committees, individual creditors and bankruptcy litigants nationally in both restructuring matters and their non-bankruptcy alternatives.
