Polsinelli PC issued the following announcement on Jan. 22.
Am Law 100 firm Polsinelli shareholder Richard Murray was honored with the 2020 Richard Marden Davis Award at a virtual ceremony in his honor. The award recognizes Murray’s exceptional service to the legal community, as well as his civic and charitable leadership.
Presented annually, The Davis Award is given to a Denver lawyer who is 40 years old or younger and combines excellence as a lawyer with civic, cultural, educational and charitable leadership. David Graham & Stubbs LLP (DGS) and the Denver Bar Association created this award in memory of Richard Marden Davis, one of the firm’s founders who was tirelessly devoted to the profession and his community. The award is presented by DGS, the Denver Bar Association and the Davis Family to the honoree who best exemplifies the character and promise of Richard Davis at that stage in his career. Murray follows a long line of winners who continue to serve the Denver legal community and beyond.
“It is a tremendous honor to receive such a prestigious award,” says Murray. “My most sincere thanks to DGS, the Denver Bar Foundation, and the Davis Family for the privilege of being among a group of such admirable recipients. I will forever cherish this recognition and will continue to dedicate myself to service to our profession and the community.”
Murray, a shareholder at Polsinelli, received his J.D. from the University of Colorado Law School. Today, his practice focuses on commercial and business disputes, as well as cases involving litigation issues. His career accolades include successfully defending clients against multi-million dollar claims at the trial and appellate court levels. His achievements have been recognized at a local and national level, including: one of the Top 25 Most Influential Young Professionals in Colorado by ColoradoBiz magazine, named in The Best Lawyers in America, highlighted as a nine-time “Rising Star” in Colorado Super Lawyers, and recognized as a “Compleat Lawyer” by Law Week Colorado. In 2018, he received the Denver Bar Association’s Young Lawyer of the Year Award. He is also a fellow of the American Bar Foundation and the Colorado Bar Foundation.
Before joining Polsinelli, Murray represented a variety of healthcare professionals in professional liability and licensure board matters. In his early career, Murray took part in several internships, including one with the former Colorado Supreme Court Justice Allison Eid, the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Ways and Means, the Colorado House of Representatives, Colorado Court of Appeals Judge David Furman, and the Denver City Attorney’s Office.
Beyond his professional career with Polsinelli, Murray continually utilizes his legal knowledge to benefit the community. He currently serves on the Colorado Access to Justice Commission and served a two-year term as president of Continuing Legal Education in Colorado, Inc. Formerly the chair of the University of Colorado Law School’s Alumni Board, Murray also served terms as the vice president and second vice president of the Denver Bar Association. He was on the Board of Governors for the Colorado Bar Association and served on the CBA/DBA Joint Management Committee.
"Richard is incredibly deserving of this honor,” said former Davis Award recipient and Polsinelli Shareholder Stacy Carpenter. “He is dedicated to his clients and their litigation needs, and his devotion to the Colorado nonprofit and legal communities inspires all of us to get more involved and be better leaders."
