Nelson Mullins issued the following announcement on Jan. 15.
Profiles in Diversity Journal has selected Michael A. Brown, a partner in Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP’s Baltimore office, as a winner in its 2020 Black Leaders Worth Watching™ Awards.
The publication chose 54 leaders for this inaugural award based on their talents and skills; dedication to excellence; willingness to mentor others; and their commitment to the larger community.
Brown leads the Baltimore litigation team. He is a veteran trial attorney and national counsel for consumer product companies and motor vehicle manufacturers. He also handles medical malpractice, employment and commercial litigation matters.
During more than 25 years of practice, he has handled more than 80 cases for corporations that run the gamut of industries, and has tried cases in 24 states. He is known for handling high- stakes matters in challenging venues.
Brown is a member of Nelson Mullins’ Executive Committee. He is also the firm’s Chief Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Partner. In this role, Brown serves as the partner accountable to the firm’s Executive Committee for the execution of the firm’s diversity, equity and inclusion efforts and the ultimate success of its diverse attorneys.
“From the time I began working at large law firms in 2009, I have pushed hard to ensure the success of Black lawyers and to help elevate them to the position of partner within those firms,” Brown said. “There is no reason not to give Black lawyers the opportunities and support they deserve to make partner.”
