FOX ROTHSCHILD LLP: Crain’s New York Business Names Sarah Biser and Laurie Stanziale to Notable Women in Law List

Fox Rothschild LLP congratulates Sarah B. Biser and Laurie A. Stanziale, who were honored among the 2021 Notable Women in Law by Crain’s New York Business.

The coveted annual list recognizes New York attorneys who are among a “legion of defenders and advocates like no other.” Crain’s chose this year’s nominees for their efforts to “shore up the edifice of justice” as well as their “professional accomplishments and contributions to industry organizations.”

Biser, who serves as Co-Chair of Fox’s nationwide Construction, International Arbitration and Israel Practice Groups, is highlighted for her involvement in some of the region’s most significant projects. Biser represented Technion-Israel Institute of Technology in its joint venture with Cornell University to build a $2 billion applied science facility on Roosevelt Island. She also worked on the construction of the Third Lane of the Panama Canal, and is the lead lawyer on the continuing litigation involving Operation Crested Ice, where an American B-52 crashed into a United States military airbase in Thule, Greenland in January 1968. Biser has represented owners and contractors in the construction of power plants, solar power installations, museums, higher education, health care, distribution, office buildings and water reclamation facilities.

Ranked for 11 consecutive years by Chambers USA for construction law in New York, she is a Fellow of both the American College of Construction Lawyers and the American College of Real Estate Lawyers, as well as a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation. Biser serves as Co-Chair of the American Bar Association’s Project Finance Committee and Co-Chair of the International Institute for Conflict Prevention and Resolution’s Construction Committee. She is a member of the board of the International Association of Jewish Lawyers and Jurists, and is a former Co-Chair of the International Bar Association’s International Project Committee and the New York County Lawyers’ Association’s Construction Law Committee. She is also a member of the New Jersey Israel Commission, by appointment of former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie.

Stanziale is featured for her representation of domestic and international developers and owners, major construction companies, trade contractors, architects, engineers and consultants in a broad range of construction matters throughout New York, as well as other jurisdictions. Stanziale is well-known for her knowledge regarding adjoining property access agreements, litigation regarding such access and frequently writes on the topic. Stanziale is currently negotiating license agreements for properties surrounding the redevelopment of the RKO Keith Theater in Flushing Queens for a China-based developer, which total twenty-one distinct neighboring properties.

As a LEED Green Associate, Stanziale has unique knowledge to understand the elements of green building practices and standards. She frequently advises high net worth clients on multimillion-dollar construction projects including renovations of landmarked properties.

Ranked by Chambers USA in 2020 for Construction Law in New York, Stanziale is an active speaker, published author and CLE instructor. She has taught the popular CLE program “Welcome to the Neighborhood” with the National Law Institute for the past decade and is an active member of the New York Chapter of CREW and the Women Builders Council. She is an avid supporter of Nontraditional Employment for Women, which prepares, trains and places women in careers in the skilled construction, utility and maintenance trades. Stanziale also regularly participates in her law school’s mentoring program.
