DETROIT (Legal Newsline) – After granting their requests to intervene in a voting fraud lawsuit, a Michigan federal judge is now being told by the Democratic National Committee and the City of Detroit to reject arguments that Election Day was rigged for Joe Biden.

The two filed their opposition to Sidney Powell’s Nov. 25 lawsuit against Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson.

The suit claims Wayne County was a hotbed of fraud and claims the companies that provided election software and hardware were founded by foreign dictators intent on manipulating elections that would keep Hugo Chavez in power in Venezuela.

“Few lawsuits breathe more lies than this one,” attorneys for Detroit wrote. “The allegations are little more than fevered rantings of conspiracy theorists built on the work of other conspiracy theorists.”

The fraud claims have already been rejected by other courts, Detroit says.

“It is difficult to know whether Plaintiffs and their counsel actually believe any of the ridiculous claims they allege or whether this entire lawsuit is designed solely as a fundraising exercise, a talking point, something they can use to bolster their imaginary claims of widespread voter fraud,” Detroit’s motion says.

“But, the fact that the Complaint is frivolous, does not mean that this lawsuit is not dangerous to our democracy.”

The DNC similarly attacks the claims while also arguing a federal court doesn’t have the authority to impose the injunction requested.

“(G)iven that well-established principles of abstention warrant deference to the ongoing state court proceedings, it would be particularly inappropriate for the court to impose the dramatically status quo-altering relief plaintiffs seek here,” the DNC’s lawyers say.
