Fox Rothschild LLP issued the following announcement on Oct. 23.
Fox Rothschild LLP congratulates Maureen Demarest Murray, who was named among the Leaders in the Law by NC Lawyers Weekly.
This award “honors legal professionals licensed and practicing law in the state of North Carolina who have gone above and beyond in their profession and their community.”
Murray, Co-Chair of Fox’s nationwide Health Law Group, is a trusted adviser to hospital groups, long term care facilities, ambulatory surgical centers, hospices, continuing care retirement communities and independent living organizations. With four decades of experience, she regularly litigates and advises on health care regulatory matters involving business disputes, alleged health care fraud, medical staff fair hearings, certificate of need and EMTALA and facility surveys. She often takes a lead role in guiding health care clients with new business initiatives and sales and acquisitions, assessing the wide variety of legal, reimbursement and practical considerations that will impact the success of their plans. She also helps clients navigate urgent patient care and crisis circumstances.
Throughout her career, Murray has held a number of significant leadership positions in the North Carolina legal community. She currently serves as Chair of the American College of Trial Lawyers North Carolina State Committee and previously served for nine years as a member of the North Carolina State Bar Disciplinary Hearing Commission, including terms as Chair and Vice-Chair. She is a member of the Advisory Board for the University of North Carolina at Greensboro School of Nursing and serves on the Associate Advisory Committee for the North Carolina Health Care Facilities Association. Murray also writes and speaks frequently to health care professionals, most recently to the South Carolina Association for Home Health and Hospice Care on fraud and compliance matters in the pandemic environment.
Ranked by Chambers USA for Health Law in North Carolina since 2014, she earned her J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School and her B.A., magna cum laude, from Duke University.
