ATLANTA (Legal Newsline) – Lawyers who allegedly prey on individuals with student loan debt are facing a racketeering lawsuit in Atlanta.
The case, filed Sept. 14, names GM Law Firm, National Legal Staffing Support, Resolvly LLC and individual defendants. They are alleged to have cold-called debtors to offer resolution services that leave their customers in worse financial shape.
Resolvly obtains leads, and NLSS cold calls them and represents that its staff works for atttorneys at GM Law Firm, the suit says. GM offers a “program” that promises to eliminate debt after 72 monthly payments.
The program is “nothing more than the… illegal collection of up-front fees for the performance of little, if any, legitimate legal/debt resolution services,” the suit says.
Plaintiff Zachary Hodges says $8,500 was taken from his bank account with no benefit.
