Troutman Pepper Hamilton Sanders LLP issued the following announcement on Sept. 2.

Virginia Lawyers Media, the publisher of Virginia Lawyers Weekly, has recognized two Troutman Pepper attorneys in its 2020 classes of “Leaders in the Law” and “Up & Coming Lawyers.” Stephen Cobb was named to the “Leaders in the Law” list, which recognizes attorneys across the commonwealth who are “setting the standard for other Virginia lawyers.” Julie Hoffmeister was named to the “Up & Coming Lawyers” list, which recognizes lawyers in their first 10 years of practice “who are making their mark.”

Cobb was recognized among a distinguished group of lawyers noted for “changing the law, serving the community, changing practice or improving Virginia’s justice system, among other accomplishments.” A former Deputy Attorney General of Virginia and Presidential Appointee at the U.S. Commerce Department, Cobb is a member of the firm’s State Attorneys General Practice in Richmond. He assists clients through the myriad legal challenges inherent in high-profile litigation and investigations.

Hoffmeister was honored among a group of lawyers predicted to be the profession’s future leaders. An attorney in the firm’s Consumer Financial Services Practice, Hoffmeister primarily focuses on financial services litigation. She is part of the firm’s national practice defending consumer-facing companies in individual lawsuits and class actions under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) and Driver’s Privacy Protection Act (DPPA).

Cobb and Hoffmeister will be recognized during a virtual awards ceremony on October 22. Honorees also will be profiled in a special supplement to the October edition of Virginia Lawyers Weekly.
