SAN JOSE, Calif. (Legal Newsline) – Google is charged with invasion of privacy in a new class action lawsuit.
Filed Aug. 7, the complaint of Edward Brekhus and Jon Hernandez say Google’s voice-activated device – triggered by phrases like “Hey Google” – is spying on them, despite representations from the company that it would not record anything unless turned on.
“Google, in fact, configured the Google Home to record, retrieve and process audio throughout users’ homes – even when users did not do anything to activate it,” the lawsuit says.
The lawsuit makes claims under the California Invasion of Privacy Act and the Federal Wiretap Act, among other things.
Pursuing the case are attorneys at Gutride Safier in San Francisco.
