Troutman Pepper Hamilton LLP issued the following announcement on Aug. 10.
Josh Combs, an attorney in Troutman Pepper’s Energy Practice, has been named to Georgia Southern University Alumni Association’s “40 Under 40” Class of 2020. The award recognizes “young alumni that are leading the way in business, leadership, community, educational and/or philanthropic endeavors.”
Combs advises clients in the energy industry on a wide range of state regulatory and litigation matters, counseling electric utilities on a variety of issues including grid modernization and improvement and cost recovery strategies for nuclear, gas-fired, and renewable generation. He helps clients navigate challenging, dynamic issues to stay current and compliant in an evolving industry. Combs also regularly assists with recruiting efforts and serves on numerous committees within the firm.
“Josh is a superstar with a strong work ethic and a commitment to excellence,” said Brandon Marzo, a partner in Troutman Pepper’s Atlanta office. “He invites challenges and is willing to take on assignments that will test one’s comfort zone. He inspires by example and is a model for our younger associates.”
In addition to his strong legal practice, Josh provides pro bono legal services to low-income seniors by assisting with obtaining estate documents, such as wills, powers of attorney and advance healthcare directives, and is passionate about issues impacting Metro Atlanta. Since graduating from Georgia Southern University, Combs has worked with community members and policymakers to improve connectivity and the transportation infrastructure in Atlanta. Earlier this year, he joined the board of Advance Atlanta, a citizen-driven grassroots coalition dedicated to building support for regional transit and championing existing transit resources.
Those recognized on the “40 Under 40” list were selected “based on their professional expertise and achievements, as well as dedication to charitable and community initiatives.” Combs will be recognized at a virtual awards ceremony on September 13, 2020, that will be broadcast through Facebook Live. Class of 2020 honorees will also be featured in the Fall 2020 edition of Georgia Southern Magazine.
