Husch Blackwell LLP issued the following announcement on Aug. 4.

Husch Blackwell partner David Stauss has been designated by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) as a Privacy Law Specialist. The designation verifies that Stauss has met the IAPP’s rigorous experience and knowledge requirements and distinguished himself as a leader in privacy law.

“There is an increasing importance for legal teams to be well versed on the rapidly evolving area of privacy law,” said J. Trevor Hughes, IAPP President and CEO. “With this designation, David demonstrates his qualification to remain at the forefront of this legal field and join other leaders in a key intersection of policy, law and technology.”

Based in Denver, Stauss leads Husch Blackwell’s Data Privacy & Cybersecurity team. He counsels clients on complying with existing and emerging privacy and information security laws, including the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 (CCPA) and state information security statutes. He also regularly assists clients in preparing for and responding to data security incidents, including managing multi-state breach notifications.

The Privacy Law Specialist certification is administered by the International Association of Privacy Professionals and accredited by the American Bar Association (ABA), which marks the 15th legal specialty accredited by this institution.
