The International Association of Defense Counsel (IADC) has elected Columbia partner James F. “Jim” Rogers to its Board of Directors for 2020-21. The IADC is an invitation-only global legal organization for attorneys who represent corporate and insurance interests.
The IADC board oversees activities that benefit the organization’s members and their clients, as well as the civil justice system, the legal profession, and society in general. In addition to its core purpose involving professional development for members, the IADC takes a leadership role in many areas of legal reform. IADC members are among the world’s leading corporate and insurance lawyers at large and small law firms and senior counsel in corporate law departments, as well as corporate and insurance executives.
Rogers practices in the areas of product liability, commercial litigation, and consumer fraud actions. He primarily has been engaged in the defense of pharmaceutical and medical device companies since 1991. Rogers has chaired DRI’s Drug and Medical Device Committee and IADC’s Drug, Device, and Biotechnology Committee. He has a wide array of trial experience, including serving as a first chair. Rogers has been recognized in Best Lawyers in America® – Mass Tort/Class Actions (2013-2019), including Best of the Year in this category (2015) and South Carolina Super Lawyers (2013-2019). Rogers also was a member of the faculty in 2015 at IADC’s Trial Academy held annually at Stanford Law School.
