Schiff Hardin LLP is proud to announce that Greg Dickinson and Chris Gerardi have been honored with the 2020 Rising Star Award by the National Immigrant Justice Center (NIJC).
“Working with the NIJC has been an extraordinarily humbling and personally rewarding experience,” Greg said. “It’s truly a privilege to be able to help these individuals clear the final hurdle toward freedom after they’ve endured so much.”
In partnership with the NIJC, Greg and Chris were part of a Schiff team to secure asylum for a several pro bono clients who faced persecution for political activities in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
“I will never forget the looks on my clients’ faces after they were granted asylum and released from ICE custody after months in detention” Chris said. “That result could not have happened without NIJC.”
The NIJC provides direct legal services to and advocates for all immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers through policy reform, impact litigation, and public education. With the support of hundreds of pro bono attorneys from the nation's leading law firms, NIJC provides legal services to more than 10,000 individuals each year and maintains a success rate of 90 percent in obtaining asylum for those fleeing persecution in their home countries.
