Foley and Lardner recently issued the following announcement.
Sunny Levine, an Associate in the firm’s Telemedicine, Digital Health, and Health Care Industry Team, will be a panelist for a webinar, titled “Telehealth: Where We Were, Where We Are, and Where We Are Headed” on Tuesday, June 2nd at 2 p.m. ET. She will be joined by Jody Erdfarb (Wiggin and Dana LLP), Laura Koman (Jones Day), and Tamara Alexander Lynch (NYU Langone Health).
Over the last few years, patients and providers have continued to turn to telehealth as a convenient and efficient health care delivery model. However, long-standing legal barriers—including limitations and restrictions on reimbursement, technology options, and multijurisdictional practice capabilities—have inhibited widespread adoption.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, federal and state authorities have relaxed many of the legal restrictions impacting telehealth and as a result, there has been a significant increase in telehealth utilization for both COVID-19 and non-COVID-19 services. In this webinar, we will review the legal issues confronted by telehealth providers, before, during and after the COVID-19 crisis.
Attendees will learn about:
obstacles to multijurisdictional practice (licensing, telehealth practice standards)
common corporate structuring options
fraud and abuse pitfalls
reimbursement mechanisms
COVID-19 temporary changes
