Polsinelli PC issued the following announcement on May 5.

Am Law 100 firm Polsinelli welcomes Lori A. Oliver as shareholder in its Seattle office. Oliver brings extensive in-house and healthcare strategy experience to Polsinelli’s national Health Care Department.

A healthcare industry veteran, Oliver’s operations and legal experience spans decades in various roles located in the Pacific Northwest. Most recently, Oliver served as Strategic Clinical Business Officer and Associate Vice President for Medical Affairs and also Director of Legal and Business Affairs for University of Washington and UW Medicine, one of the largest academic health systems in the Pacific Northwest. She also served as Assistant Attorney General at the Washington Attorney General’s Office

Oliver’s practice focuses on counseling healthcare organizations in a variety of areas, including strategic affiliations and relationship strategies, clinical alignment initiatives, complex clinical research issues and challenging governance issues. She is also well-versed in complex compliance matters, including fraud and abuse, Stark, HIPAA and state privacy laws, federal research regulations, Medicaid and Medicare reimbursements.

“We are pleased to have a lawyer of Lori’s caliber joining the Polsinelli team. Her industry knowledge from her multiple roles with a large academic health system will deliver practical solutions to our clients,” said Polsinelli Health Care Operations Practice Chair Colleen Faddick. “Lori’s commitment to providing timely legal advice and executive-level leadership to our healthcare clients will not only provide value, but give them the first-hand, tangible experience they are seeking.”

In addition to Oliver’s work for the firm’s Healthcare Transactions Practice, she will also focus on expanding and developing business for Polsinelli Healthcare Solutions, a multi-disciplinary consulting group that advises healthcare organizations and other stakeholders on the development and implementation of strategies to succeed in today’s constantly changing healthcare industry.

“I look forward to this next chapter in my legal career at the Am Law 100 level with Polsinelli,” said Oliver. “The firm’s national platform and widespread resources were desirable, as well as the opportunity to be part of the Polsinelli Healthcare Solutions team. I am eager to connect with some of the top healthcare attorneys in the country on the Polsinelli team.”

Oliver joins Polsinelli’s Health Care Department, which represents one of the largest concentrations of health care attorneys and professionals in the nation. The Department has received a National Tier One ranking in Health Care Law by U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Law Firms” annually since 2014, and was recognized as “Law Firm of the Year” in 2018 by the organization. Since 2012, the Department has been ranked among the Top 5 largest health care practices nationwide by the American Healthcare Lawyers Association (AHLA), and among the Top 10 largest law firms in the nation by Modern Healthcare.

As the newest member of Polsinelli’s Seattle office, Oliver joins Jim Fredman, a Seattle-based Health Care Operations shareholder, to further expand the firm’s regional healthcare capabilities. In the past six months, Polsinelli’s Seattle office has added four new shareholders, including seasoned litigator Aaron Wagner last month.

“As our Seattle office continues its strategic growth, we are excited to have Lori join us in building Polsinelli’s West Coast health care presence,” said Polsinelli Seattle Office Managing Partner Jane Pearson. “She is well-known in the Pacific Northwest legal community and within the region’s healthcare industry, and we couldn’t be more pleased to have her on our team.”

Oliver demonstrates significant community and civic involvement to compliment her legal career. She currently serves on the Ethics Committee of the American College of Radiation Oncology Board, and is a member of the Washington State Bar Association, AHLA and Washington State Society of Health Care Attorneys. She has previously served in multiple board leadership roles on Seattle non-profit boards.

Oliver is a graduate of Boise State University, and furthered her education at Willamette University, earning her M.B.A. and J.D.
