BRADLEY ARANT BOULT CUMMINGS: Bradley Attorney Courtney Achee Earns Certified Information Privacy Professional Credential

Bradley is pleased to announce that Courtney M. Achee, an attorney in the firm’s Charlotte office, has earned the Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US) credential in the United States through the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).

Erin Jane Illman, co-chair of Bradley’s Cybersecurity and Privacy Practice Group and leader of the firm’s Fintech team, added, “As cyber and privacy issues and laws become increasingly complex, our multidisciplinary Cybersecurity and Privacy practice continues to expand and draw upon its more than two decades of experience to ensure that our clients’ information and technology infrastructures are fully protected.”

A member of Bradley’s Financial Services Litigation and Cybersecurity and Privacy practice groups, Ms. Achee assists clients with litigation and compliance needs. She advises clients on compliance obligations under federal statutes and regulations, state privacy and data security laws, global data protection laws, industry standards, and other laws. Her experience includes developing consumer-facing privacy policies, privacy notices under the Gramm–Leach–Bliley Act (GLBA), and other policies and procedures; advising clients on the affiliate marketing rule under the Fair Credit Reporting Act; reviewing legislative proposals for privacy laws and providing feedback to clients regarding business consequences; analyzing the use of marketing and advertising tools for software application developers; and conducting gap analysis to determine compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and assisting clients with CCPA compliance programs. She also helps clients implement privacy by design in the early stage of development of a digital lending platform, as well as with compliance obligations under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, GLBA, Controlling the Assault of Non-Solicited Pornography And Marketing Act, Truth-in-Lending Act (TILA), Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), E-SIGN, and other state privacy laws.

Accredited by the American National Standards Institute, the CIPP is recognized as a leading global privacy and data protection credentialing program. The CIPP/US designates professionals who demonstrate a strong foundation in U.S. private-sector privacy laws and regulations and understanding of the legal requirements for the responsible transfer of sensitive personal data to/from the United States, the European Union, and other jurisdictions.
