BUTLER SNOW: Diana M. Comes and Geoffrey M. Hirsch Named Finalists in Memphis Business Journal’s 2019 Best of the Bar Awards

Butler Snow issued the following announcement on Feb. 6.

Butler Snow is pleased to announce Diana M. Comes and Geoffrey M. Hirsch have been named finalists in the Memphis Business Journal’s 2019 Best of the Bar Awards. Diana was named a finalist in the ace associate category. Geoffrey was named a finalist in the private firm attorney, extra large category which was added in 2018 to include firms with a national presence and numerous offices throughout the country, regardless of where the firm is based or how many attorneys are in its Memphis office.

The Best of the Bar Awards honor top legal professionals in the Memphis area, whether they are in a private firm, serve as an attorney for the government or work as in-house counsel for a company. Finalists will be recognized at an event on March 5, and a winner in each category will be announced. Winners are selected by a panel of judges based on their legal excellence, service to their profession and community involvement.

Diana focuses her practice on financial services litigation and intellectual property matters. She has handled appeals before the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Fifth and Sixth Circuits, the Tennessee Supreme Court and the Tennessee Court of Appeals. Diana has been recognized by Super Lawyers® as a Mid-South Rising Star in business litigation and as an outstanding associate by the Leo Bearman, Sr. American Inn of Court in 2017.

Diana is a member of the American, Tennessee and Memphis Bar Associations, the Association for Women Attorneys and the Defense Research Institute. She received her bachelor’s degree, summa cum laude, from Rhodes College and her Juris Doctor, summa cum laude, from the University of Memphis.

Geoffrey is a member of the firm’s business services group and finance, real estate and restructuring group. He focuses his practice on commercial real estate and finance, mergers and acquisitions, business formation and planning and consensual reorganizations outside bankruptcy. Geoffrey has been recognized by Best Lawyers® for real estate law, commercial transactions/UCC law and was named the 2018 Lawyer of the Year in Memphis for transactions/UCC law, by Chambers USA for real estate and by Martindale Hubbell® with an AV-Preeminent Peer Review rating.

Geoffrey is a member of the American, Tennessee and Memphis Bar Associations. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania and his Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from the University of Memphis.
