CLARK HILL: Clark Hill Attorneys Jason R. Canvasser, Ronald M. Stern and Paul S. Magy to Present at the International Council of Shopping Centers Michigan Continuing Education Program for Real Estate Professionals, February 14, 2019

Clark Hill PLC issued the following announcement on Jan. 31.

Attorneys Jason R. Canvasser, Ronald M. Stern and Paul S. Magy will present at the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) 2019 Michigan Continuing Education Program for Real Estate Professionals on February 14, 2019, at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi, MI. The program, For the Love of Retail Real Estate: Embracing Change and Adapting for Success, will provide 8.0 hours of Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credits, composed of 6.0 hours of Commercial Real Estate and 2.0 hours of Legal Update.

Paul S. Magy is the Program Chair will be emceeing the program throughout the day. Jason R. Canvasser’s presentation, “The Budding Real Estate Market - Don’t Let Your Lease Rights Go Up in Smoke,” will cover how Michigan’s emerging cannabis industry effects landlord’s and tenant’s property rights. Ronald M. Stern’s presentation, “Commercial Real Estate Retail Lending in Today's Markets - Mayday, Doomsday, or Payday?” will discuss the various significant economic and governmental changes that currently impact commercial lending in the retail space. Both presentations will occur during the roundtable portion of the program, which includes various topics presented in a roundtable format for small group discussion.

Jason R. Canvasser is a Member of the Detroit office’s Litigation group. Jason has broad experience representing clients in general litigation matters that include complex commercial cases, contractual disputes, defense of premise liability and auto negligence claims, landlord-tenant matters, and issues relating bankruptcy/creditor’s rights.

Paul S. Magy is a Member of the Birmingham office’s Real Estate group. Paul’s extensive commercial real estate experience includes acquisition, development, finance, zoning, leasing and sale of commercial real estate, in addition to litigation related to those areas, including receiverships, distressed assets and retailer bankruptcy.

Ronald M. Stern is a Senior Attorney in the Birmingham office’s Banking & Financial Services group. Ronald focuses his practice in three primary areas: the representation of lenders (and borrowers) in commercial lending transactions; the representation of businesses in corporate transactions and corporate law; and the representation of parties in commercial real estate matters.
