Butler Snow is pleased to announce Jim Letten of the firm’s White Collar, Compliance and Government Investigations subgroup has been appointed to the Quality Assurance Review Committee of the Jefferson Parish Inspector General’s Office. Based on his distinguished career in anti-corruption enforcement, Jim is one of three individuals who was nominated by the Jefferson Parish Ethics and Compliance Commission to serve in the important role of ensuring the utmost in quality control of inspector general reports and processes.
Over the past four years, the Jefferson Parish Inspector General has questioned more than $21 million in expenditures, issued 22 reports, nine position papers and monitored more than $600 million in transactions, with 205 findings and recommendations to parish governmental decision makers. The office and its work product are also subject to annual peer reviews conducted by the National Association of Inspectors General. In his role, Jim will provide in-depth, pro bono reviews, analyses, evaluations and recommendations consistent with his and the commission’s mission of ensuring the highest quality of the investigations and reports of the Jefferson Parish Inspector General, as well as the governmental agencies responding to those reports. In 2015, Jim provided an anti-corruption keynote address to the annual national conference of the National Association of Inspectors General in Detroit. In this important mission, Jim will remain an asset in ensuring local governments in Louisiana are free from fraud, waste and abuse.
Jim’s practice areas include investigations and white-collar crime, FCPA/Anti-Corruption and corporate compliance and defense, internal corporate investigations, regulatory advocacy, and commercial litigation. Prior to joining the firm, Jim was appointed United States Attorney by President George W. Bush in 2005 and continued in President Barack Obama’s administration.
