Indiana Supreme Court issued the following announcement on Jan. 16.
Indiana Chief Justice Loretta H. Rush addressed the Governor and a joint session of the Indiana General Assembly for the annual State of the Judiciary. The formal update on the work of the judicial branch held Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. EST in the chamber of the Indiana House of Representatives.
The Chief Justice was required to provide lawmakers with an update on the “condition of the courts” according to Article 7, Section 3, of the Indiana Constitution. The 2019 address will focus on how the judicial branch works to meet the evolving needs of its court customers.
Trial and appellate court judges from across the state wear traditional black robes for the event. Appellate court judges were escorted by members of the General Assembly to the House of Representatives for the joint session.
