DLA Piper issued the following announcement on Jan. 16.
DLA Piper is pleased to announce that Barbara Mace has joined the firm as a principal economist based out of the New York office. She advises large multinational financial institutions on global transfer pricing issues, guiding senior professionals through the decision-making process related to cross-border pricing across a number of jurisdictions in alignment with complex regulatory dynamics.
Mace has more than 28 years of experience in financial services transfer pricing, economic consulting and academia. Prior to joining DLA Piper, she was a principal at Ernst & Young LLP, where she launched the firm's US Transfer Pricing group focused on the financial services sector, part of its International Tax Services team.
"Given recent changes in the global tax system, the demand for top-tier advisors in international tax and transfer pricing has grown significantly," said Sang Kim, co-chair of DLA Piper's global Tax practice and chair of the US Tax practice. "Barb is a preeminent figure in her field, and we are pleased to have her on board."

Mace has also served as an assistant professor of business economics at the University of Michigan's School of Business, and previously taught economics and finance at the American University in Moscow as a visiting lecturer. She has regularly been named as a leading transfer pricing advisor by both the International Tax Review and Euromoney. She earned her Ph.D. in economics from the University of Chicago.
